26 pallets of food, supplied by Defra, for food aid organisations across the county arrived yesterday. The food is store cupboard food with a long date and includes everything from rice, UHT milk and canned food to chocolate biscuits.
It’s a very welcome help to meet the growing need for emergency food in Shropshire.
A big thank you everyone who has made this happen, especially Shrewsbury Food Hub for co-ordinating, Shropshire Council for making deliveries, Gary from Matthew Kibble Transport for getting the food there and Barry from Gibson Ceramics, who came to the rescue with his forklift truck to speed up unloading, to FareShare and Defra for supplying the food and to National Emergencies Trust for funding the staff time to organise it.
